Local Crown land managers, tenure holders, trusts, councils and the wider Ballina community are being invited to have their say on the draft Community Engagement Strategy for Crown land.
Parliamentary Secretary for Northern NSW Ben Franklin MLC said community and stakeholder feedback is vital.
“The Community Engagement Strategy will play a critical role in helping to improve transparency and meaningful engagement with the community on decisions about Crown land,” Mr Franklin said.
“The NSW Government is holding a series of community information sessions during the exhibition period, including here in Ballina:

“The strategy will outline engagement requirements on dealings such as licences, leases and sales, so it’s really important we have input from our local community,” Mr Franklin said.
The Community Engagement Strategy is a requirement under the Crown Land Management Act 2016.
The draft strategy is on public exhibition from 16 October to 26 November.
Minister for Lands and Forestry Paul Toole said the community information session in Ballina will give locals the chance to:
- Learn more about the draft strategy and the public exhibition process.
- Raise any concerns and have questions answered.
- Find out how to have your say and engage in the consultation.
“Each session will run for three hours and people can drop-in anytime that suits them, with individual support and advice provided at the session,” Mr Toole said.
