Nationals Parliamentary Secretary for Northern NSW Ben Franklin has announced that Hope Haven Women’s Refuge in Ballina will receive $5,574 in NSW Government funding to increase security and safety at the Refuge.

Mr Franklin said that security and safety for those at the centre is paramount.

“Hope Haven is an incredible facility which provides a home for women at a time when they may be most vulnerable,” Mr Franklin said.

“The services, support, nurturing environment and most importantly the safety Hope Haven provides is life changing for women.

“I want to ensure that the most vulnerable in our community can feel safe and secure, while also being able to move on with their lives.

“That is why the NSW Government is investing this funding for fencing at Ballina’s Hope Haven.”

During her recent visit to the North Coast, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian joined with Mr Franklin on a tour of Hope Haven and met with the centre’s staff.

“I was delighted to be able to introduce the NSW Premier to the wonderful staff and board at Hope Haven, and to show her first hand the great work that is carried out by the refuge,” Mr Franklin said.

“We will ensure this Government does everything possible to support Hope Haven in providing the vital support and services to members of the North Coast community.”
