The Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore Surf Life Saving Club will soon have a fully fitted gymnasium thanks to a $8,962 grant from the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government.

Nationals Parliamentary Secretary for Northern NSW Ben Franklin announced the funding today, which will enable the Club to purchase equipment for their new gymnasium.

“The Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore Surf Life Saving Club is such a wonderful facility for the Ballina community and I am thrilled that we can provide more support for our surf lifesavers,” Mr Franklin said.

“In recent years we have seen the Club undergo significant improvements as part of their masterplan. It is exciting to see the construction of the new storage facility and gymnasium are currently underway.

“When this construction is complete, we want to ensure that the Club members and particularly the surf lifesavers can maximize the new facilities. That is why the NSW Liberal & Nationals Government are providing $8,962 in funding for new gym equipment.

The funding will allow the club to purchase a cable machine, a water resistance rowing machine, a spin bike, exercise bike, treadmill, leg press, dumbbell set and sports bench.

“Our surf lifesavers work tirelessly each day, and are often pushed to their physical limits. This equipment will help surf lifesavers maintain the necessary physical fitness for the job,” Mr Franklin said.

“The North Coast is home to some of the most pristine beaches in the state. In the summer and holiday periods when our beaches get busy, it is our local surf Clubs and surf lifesavers who keep our beach goers safe.

“That is why this government is making it a priority to support local surf clubs.
